Helping the Permavent team take their first tentative steps into e-commerce.

Background to the Project

Permavent are a leading roofing company based in Weymouth, Dorset since 2005. The team of roofing experts design, manufacture and distribute roofing products to the UK market. Permavent deliver a range of patented products that offer low pitch roofing solutions, speciality membranes and insulation.

The Permavent product range includes the award-winning Easy Roof System – unique method of slate or plain tile installation at a very low pitch which maintains a traditional appearance and extends the life of the roof. Other products include DIAMOND GRP flat roofing and waterproofing systems, non-combustible breathable roofing membranes and insulation (Skytech PRO XL) we well as condensation control systems.

Our Challenge

Permavent approached us at the start of the project with the main objective to replace their ageing Joomla website. Having recently launched several new roofing products to the market this was as opportune time to review their digital presence and look to offer more services online to their customers.

Permavent is already well established in the architectural practice and property developer space, but was also keen to engage with other parts of the supply chain like contractors and builders.

Our challenge was to help their team take their first tentative steps in to e-commerce whilst developing a set of resources that would be useful for a wide range of individuals wherever they were in the construction process.

Our Approach

During the planning stage we identified several customer persona types and each had a different information requirement depending on where they were in their build process. Establishing this early on helped us to develop key sections of the website, and ensure that the online resources were truly customer-led.

Permavent digital model

We carried this approach through the site structure; creating different categories for downloads and the ability to request a seminar, samples and fitting instructions. The case study and testimonial resources provided the ability to highlight specific Permavent products and their applications in real-life projects. We also integrated a ‘Where to buy’ tool for convenient way to find local stockists. And the addition of a custom FAQ tool makes it easy for website visitors to get the product information and answers to technical questions.

The online shop is completely bespoke and is hosted on a separate sub-domain.
