Our Challenge

We Are Weymouth is the brand name that is used by Weymouth BID to promote the popular Dorset seaside town, famed for its golden sands, historic harbour and Georgian Esplanade

One of 270 BIDs throughout the UK, Weymouth BID is a business-led initiative that enables the local businesses to raise funding to improve the trading environment and attract new commercial initiatives.

We were invited to tender in October 2015 for an initial twelve-month contract to help We Are Weymouth develop their digital strategy. The BID already had a very strong brand in place, alongside a pre-existing website but was finding that their online presence wasn’t achieving the results they had hoped.

Our brief was to turn those dwindling online figures around – and put Weymouth on the digital map.

 

Our Approach

Two years later and with a dedicated digital roadmap in place; a content strategy that focuses on user engagement; strict target reviews and regular project meetings, the We Are Weymouth online presence really has come in to its own.

Weymouth is a busy tourist destination and there is always lots happening in the town and surrounding area. So you can guess, this project is a very busy one with numerous campaigns running at any time.

Social Media plays a big part of their strategy and we use several social platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to drive engagement and build a local following.

With the BIG Christmas Ice Rink, New Years Eve, Weymouth Carnival, fireworks, Dino Day with T-Rex, Feast and even a dolphin being rescued off the beach making headline news – there is never a dull moment in Weymouth!

Our Results

We’ve helped the BID team establish a robust content strategy that has ensured they get lots of engagement on social media, website traffic that has increased month on month and significant first page search engine positions for key local search terms.

We help We Are Weymouth run a number of campaigns since we took over marketing their site including the Big Outdoor Weekend, FEAST and Weymouth’s Big Christmas which involved creating content for a new microsite, blog and supporting social media like geographic Snapchat filters and #hashtag campaign.
