Background to Project
Weldmar Hospicecare is an independent charity that provides end of life care for people living in Dorset who require specialist support. Their compassionate approach supports patients and their families, medically and in other ways, in the community, in their hospice and at home.
We are really pleased to work with a such a prominent local charity that is close to our heart.
Weldmar Hospicecare approached us in the first instance with an immediate need. Their current charity website provider had just gone in to administration and the power was about to be turned off on their bank of servers.
Throughout the project we worked closely with Chris (their web manager). He managed to scrape their site before the lights went out and then set up a temporary site so they could continue promoting their great work and take donations, whilst we started on the build.
Following several in depth strategy and planning sessions we pulled together a clear functional spec. Weldmar had a number of key deliverables including an customised form capture, an online shop, event system and donations; all of which needs to integrate with their internal fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge).
Given the primary aim of the website is to encourage supporter engagement and donations the site needs to look good and be easy to use across all platforms.
The new website uses a bespoke CMS, enabling quick and easy adding, editing and updating of content by the Weldmar Hospicecare trust team.
The design is fully responsive and crafted with a modern look and feel consistent with the current branding and identity.
We made sure to include a user-friendly navigational structure, designed to maximise visits and user engagement.
Behind the scenes the online shop, events system and donations synchronises with their internal marketing platform to allow the team to further market to supporters and collect Gift Aid.
The new website now has extensive search features, greater functionality, and is mobile friendly.
Each page within the website has been individually optimised meaning it is now well indexed by Google and delivers strong traffic.
The Weldmar team are able to fully manage all aspects of the site from adding events and products to the shop as well as deciding which elements to feature on their home page to support their current promotional and social media campaigns.
The new site has been widely accepted and continues to help the Weldmar team do their great work.
