Background to the Project
Cumulus Outdoors provide a range of exciting and fun-filled outdoor adventure based activity weekends for families, private groups and schools.
From Coasteering on the Dorset coastline in the Isle of Purbeck, to rock climbing and Bushcraft, they have all the ingredients for a fun filled and stimulating outdoor experience.
Our Challenge
Cumulus had a website which was looking a little tired and was swiftly being left behind in the modern responsive world.
Over time, websites can become cluttered with new services being shoe-horned in which weren’t catered for from the beginning. Clear colour-coded sections for the services that Cumulus offer was the way forward, making it easy for users and admins alike to manage and browse the website.
Our Approach
We built Cumulus a bespoke WordPress theme which gave them the power to utilise the riches of imagery & video at their disposal. Colour coordinated sections for Schools, Duke of Edinburgh Awards & Adventure activities for the public gives users a clear browsing experience.
For their work with schools, Cumulus wanted several download portals where individual schools could login to their own portal and download school-specific documents in a safe & secure manner. Further portals were also developed for Cumulus staff.
Cumulus’s adventure activities receive a lot of fantastic feedback & a reviews mechanism was high up the priority list. We developed a system that would allow Google to crawl & display review schema, giving indexed Cumulus activities pages star ratings, standing out from the crowd.
Our Results
An image rich, fast website that performs well under speed and usability tests. The website admins at Cumulus have taken to their new CMS like a duck to water, editing & managing all aspects of their website like any good CMS should.
More than 25 schools at any one time across the country accessing their specific adventure data, streamlining the process and cutting down a previously time-consuming activity.
Schema enabled ratings & reviews gives Cumulus a stand-out listing in search engines for their services.
